St. Jude presents 25th annual Wall Street Taste of New York at Guastavino’s

It was an honor to attend the 25th annual Wall Street Taste of New York fundraiser at Guastavino’s, a gorgeous event space located under the Queensboro Bridge. I am proud to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization that is very close to my heart. In the last 50 years, St. Jude has helped to increase the overall child cancer survival rate from 20% to 80%. Truly amazing. I was so happy to see Chef Miles McMath (St. Jude’s Senior Executive Chef & Director of Culinary Operations), a man that I greatly respect and admire. I had the pleasure of meeting him for the first time earlier this year at a James Beard House dinner featuring chefs from Memphis, Tennessee. Thanks to Chef Miles and his team, the children at St. Jude eat local, fresh, nutritious meals every day. He’s an inspiration!

The food selection at this event was fantastic — a true meat-lover’s paradise. Almost every dish consisted of beef, which we were ecstatic about. Some of the standouts of the night: beef sliders by Master Purveyors, meatball sliders by Paola’s Restaurant, pastrami-spiced short ribs by American Cut, and short ribs with creamed spinach by Harry’s Cafe. I also really liked the “Cosmic Mac and Cheese” prepared by Chef Miles — it was a light, fresh departure from all of the meat. We had such a great time and were so happy when we found out that this event raised about $2.2 million dollars for St. Jude. That’s extraordinary!
