The Starr of Philadelphia: Chef Peter Serpico at the James Beard House

Really excited to be at the James Beard House with two of my favorite foodies when an amazing chef from Philly is cooking! Chef Peter Serpico was the opening chef de cuisine/ partner at Momofuku Ko and the culinary director of David Chang’s Momofuku Empire. In 2013, he opened his own restaurant, Serpico, in Philadelphia with restaurateur Stephen Starr, which features creative contemporary American cuisine. I was thrilled to have the chance to try Chef Peter’s food after hearing so many positive things about his food. All of the dishes were fantastic, from the deep fried duck legs and raw diver scallops with buttermilk to the tempura corn salad and Wagyu beef short ribs. It was especially exciting for me to get the chance to speak to Chef Peter after the dinner and find out that he was adopted from South Korea by an Italian family, just like me. Can’t wait to take another road trip down to Philly to check out Serpico and enjoy more of Chef Peter’s magnificent food!
