General Assembly

Had a delicious dinner with foodie friends at the newly opened General Assembly (formerly The Hurricane Club). The space is beautiful and the food is fantastic! There were two dishes in particular that totally blew my mind: the corn creme brûlée and the Skuna Bay salmon. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the corn creme brûlée — I’ve never heard of anything like it and I’m not a fan of regular creme brûlée. Let me just tell you, it was absolutely amazing! Such a creative dish with a perfect blend of contrasting textures and flavors (sweet and savory with a crispy top, creamy inside, and actual corn kernels). My entree, the Skuna Bay salmon, was also amazing — I was given two generous pieces of perfectly cooked medium rare salmon, complemented beautifully by the grilled ramp aioli and rhubarb chutney. I could eat that aioli on everything — it was incredible! At the top of the “must try” list at GA on my next visit: the Tartine with sea urchin, robiolina and tomato butter. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
