Socarrat Paella Bar – Nolita

Back for more delicious paella at Socarrat! One of our favorite ladies is in town for the week and we’re celebrating her recent engagement… CONGRATS! :) We’re thrilled for you. This calls for a toast — thanks to the awesome bartender for the cava! While chatting about wedding and bachelorette stuff, we feasted on a variety of tasty Spanish tapas, including gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimp), patatas bravas (fried potatoes), ham croquettes, and fried artichokes. Then it was time for the paellas — we ordered the signature Socarrat and the Arroz Negro. It was my first time trying the Arroz Negro, but I knew I would love it because I’m a big fan of squid ink pasta. My instincts were correct — it was AMAZING! And as always, the Socarrat was delicious. To our delight, Chef Lolo stopped by our table to say hello! As we were chatting, he scraped the socarrat (the crispy rice at the bottom of the pan) for us. What a gentleman! Chef Lolo has always stayed true to the traditional Spanish way of preparing paella. It’s the best paella I’ve had in New York City and I will keep coming back for more. A huge thank you to Chef Lolo and our awesome server, Willie, for an incredible meal and dining experience. We love Socarrat!
