Today was my first time at the US Open! We had tickets for the Quarter Finals night session with Viktoria Azarenka v. Daniela Hantuchova and Rafael Nadal v. Tommy Robredo. SO EXCITING! Before the matches began, we had the pleasure of dining at Aces, one of the awesome restaurants in the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The menu featured sushi by Chef Masaharu Morimoto and lots of great seafood. I opted for the Skuna Bay Craft Raised Salmon prepared a la plancha with vegetables and beurre blanc on the side — simple, fresh, and delicious. Skuna Bay is my favorite salmon. Whenever I spot it on a menu, I have to order it. The corn “off the cob” that I had as a side dish was hands down the best corn I’ve eaten at a restaurant. It was seasoned so well. I also snagged a bite of my mom’s Creekstone Farms Filet Mignon, which was tender and cooked to a perfect medium rare. Normally, I’m not a fan of vodka, but I enjoyed the most delicious cocktail made with Grey Goose Cherry Noir vodka — I need to replicate this drink at home! What a fantastic meal at Aces… now, off to the courts! GO RAFA!
