Krescendo (Brooklyn, NY)

I had a lovely reunion with my grad school friends over authentic Pizza Napoletana at Krescendo in Brooklyn. The pizza dough is handmade and cooked in a 900 degree oven that was built in Naples, Italy and shipped to the US. Incredible! No wonder it’s so darn good. To start, we sampled the arancini (crispy saffron rice balls) and polpette (baked meatballs), which were both delicious. My favorite pizzas were the Bianca (mozzarella, ricotta, parmigiano, gorgonzola, fried sage, and kale) and¬†the Margherita Extra (pomodoro, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella di bufala, basil). There’s something magical about a handmade, freshly baked pizza — it’s intoxicating. I’m normally not a fan of the crust, but the crust on these pizzas was so good. I washed it all down with an ice cold pint of Peak Organic Summer Session Ale. Pizza and beer is always a winning combo!
