Tucked away off the side of the Bridgehampton – Sag Harbor Turnpike, there appears to be a tiny, unassuming cabin. It’s actually an awesome restaurant called Estia’s Little Kitchen that was opened in 1998 by Chef Colin Ambrose, serving American food with Mexican flavors. I love going to Estia’s for brunch during the off-season in The Hamptons because there’s no line (I’ve heard that the wait time can be up to two hours during the summer). When you show up on a freezing cold day in the middle of March, you get a table immediately. The atmosphere is casual and it feels like you’re actually dining in someone’s home. I always order the same thing: the California omelette (egg whites only) with avocado and Jack cheese AND a grilled American cheese on sourdough. No frills, no pretense, just good food. The shoestring fries are out of this world — they are some of the best fries I’ve ever had, next to McDonald’s. (Come on, you’ve got to admit, McDonald’s has amazing fries!) Estia’s also serves mimosas in these enormous glasses — it’s like three drinks in one, for only $13!
